**BLOG TOUR** How Not to Be a Bride by Portia MacIntosh

20th October 2017

What the publisher says:

Definitely, maybe…yes?

Mia Valentina gave up her high-flying life in LA to move back to Kent over four years ago. But it turns out that life in the slow lane isn’t all it’s cracked up to be!

So when her boyfriend Leo proposes, she says yes, hoping it will bring some much needed sparkle back into her life. The trouble is, Mia never wanted a big white wedding, just the happy ever after…

What I say:

This is the story of the fantastically named Mia Valentina and her boyfriend/fiance Leo.   Mia has returned from Los Angeles where she was living a glamorous life mixing with movie stars as part of her life as a screen writer.  She now finds herself living a solitary existence at home as a novelist, her move meaning she had left behind anyone she could think of as a friend.

When her boyfriend proposes (with the full knowledge of her family – eeek!) she is over the moon and yet something seems to be causing her problems when it comes to the organisation of what should be the happiest day of her life.  Throw in her new job shadowing a rock star to learn all about him in order to write his biography and things start to get more complicated for Mia.  Not surprisingly Leo and her family start to doubt whether or not Mia actually wants to get married.

With it’s likeable characters and quick moving storyline this book really held my attention.  Mia was a fun character who managed to survive her family and still be her own person.  Her adventures with Dylan the rock star were amusing and entertaining even if her fiance was a little suspicious of his motives.
