Hush Little Baby by Joanna Barnard

What the publisher says:

When baby Oliver breaks his arm, no-one can (or will) say how it happened.

His mother is exhausted.

His father is angry.

His older sister is resentful.

And they all have something to hide.

What I say:

Baby Oliver is ten months old when it becomes apparent that something is wrong and he is taken to hospital where he is diagnosed with a broken arm.  Oliver lives with Mum Sally, Dad Richard and older sister Martha, each of whom had been alone with him at some point during the time he sustained the injury.  None of whom admits to knowing what happened.

As social services investigate what happened the family relationships begin to deteriorate and it becomes apparent to the reader at least that each of them is hiding a secret. My emotions were toyed with as I believed that first one character and then a different one, was responsible for the injury.  I was convinced I knew who had caused the injury but, as with all good thrillers, I was wrong
