What I say: This is the story of Kate who has returned to her home town of Thorpe, a small town in South Yorkshire, after marriage breakdown and promotion. We join her as she begins the investigation into the murder of a seven year old.  Her memories of her time in Thorpe as a young teenager are explored through flashback chapters although it isn’t immediately obvious why we should be interested in her past, it becomes clear later in the book.
